The German Wound Badge (Verwundetenabzeichen) was a military decoration awarded to soldiers of the Imperial German Army who were wounded during World War I. The third class of the badge is black in color and was awarded to soldiers who were wounded once or twice by hostile action.The badge was introduced by Kaiser Wilhelm II on March 3, 1918.
